One thing you should know about reading revelation is: that everything in it (mostly) is symbols. Not exactly the word means.

I will translate to you what it really means. So Mary ( the woman ) is about to give birth to baby Jesus with 12 stars (can be the disciples of Jesus, or the number of Israels) and the dragon is devil, the number 7 in Israelies means eternity, or forever. So the dragon means a very devil the king of the devil. In the end the dragon died by being crushed in the head. But the woman get hurt by the leg.
